Hi Tahmina,

The idea of living happily ever after remains in the reminiscence of a childhood relationship if not in fairy tales. For some of us, who were lucky enough to live through such relationships may agree, it was indeed a fairy tale. But, life as we see it while growing up is not the exact reflection of such ideologies and therefore leaves no space for such juvenile emotions.

As often the case with such epic relationships, people in it tends to define who they are through their partners and getting over it just simply means letting go off yourself. My understanding about your friend is that he doesn’t want to get over it but seemingly his idea of love may have shifted from the forever zone to a more realistic one.

Just to add to your brilliant piece, the decision to walk out would be much easier if you can first fight your “what if woes”. I will just try to quote something that I read during my incessant browsing of facebook profiles – “Just because it is, doesn’t mean it should be, and we always tend to settle for what it is rather than what it should be.” Our conscious tells us ‘what should be’ is ideally ‘what it is’, but honestly we’ll never ever know.

Wow!! :D
Tahmina Apu..........Its a great great writing I have been reading since many days! :D

Really relationships has turned to some extent...I also cant define causes for it.

But what I can say, is with you:

Maybe life is such that, there will always be someone who we will never get over- their smile, the smell, their warmth or just the look of those eyes.

Thanks for the nice post.and,

EID MUBARAK :)

I do tend to agree with the views expressed above, which seem to come after much reflection on the nature of marital relationship. Yes, increasingly the world, as we know it, is selfish, self-centered and competitive. The tendency has cast its shadow on marital relationship as well. The consequence of that is the growing number of divorces all over the world. The children are the worst affected persons in this process of a marital breakdown. The play of the opposites in this phenomenal world make us long for a permanency that does not exist. An illusion!

All that I want to say is that when you make some choices, be prepared for all the consequences thereof. After all, in these days of growing number of educated and emancipated women in society, there is no compulsion to marry and if you do marry for the sake of love or or social acceptance of a relationship or because it is the only legitimate way to have children and raise them, then be prepared to make some sacrifices or compromises or seek a divorce and move on. Do avoid abusing the other in front of children.
