The idea of living happily ever after remains in the reminiscence of a childhood relationship if not in fairy tales. For some of us, who were lucky enough to live through such relationships may agree, it was indeed a fairy tale. But, life as we see it while growing up is not the exact reflection of such ideologies and therefore leaves no space for such juvenile emotions.

As often the case with such epic relationships, people in it tends to define who they are through their partners and getting over it just simply means letting go off yourself. My understanding about your friend is that he doesn’t want to get over it but seemingly his idea of love may have shifted from the forever zone to a more realistic one.

Just to add to your brilliant piece, the decision to walk out would be much easier if you can first fight your “what if woes”. I will just try to quote something that I read during my incessant browsing of facebook profiles – “Just because it is, doesn’t mean it should be, and we always tend to settle for what it is rather than what it should be.” Our conscious tells us ‘what should be’ is ideally ‘what it is’, but honestly we’ll never ever know.

Really relationships has turned to some extent…I also cant define causes for it.

But what I can say, is with you:

Maybe life is such that, there will always be someone who we will never get over- their smile, the smell, their warmth or just the look of those eyes.
